Girls Team Finishes 4th at the Second Colonial Hills Conference Meet
Bernards Boys Place 9th
The Bernards girls team finished in fourth place at the second Colonial Hills Conference Championship meet on January 18, 2002 at the new Newark Academy 25 yard pool. Bernards scored 168 points, finishing behind champion Montclair Kimberley (241), Chatham (214), and Mountain Lakes (172). Click here to see a complete list of the Colonial Hills Conference schools. Bernards won 3 individual events as Catherine Skoda took the 50 free in 25.55 and 100 back in 1:01.99, while sister Nori took the 100 breast in 1:09.88. Since this was the first time the meet was swum in a 25 yard pool, all of the winning swims established new Conference Meet records. Nori also placed second in the 100 fly (1:02.40) and Grace deMarrais took second in the 500 with a 5:21.86. Bernards placed second in both the 200 medley and the 200 free relays as Catherine, Grace, and Nori teamed up with Holly Steiner and finished with times of 1:58.08 and 1:46.76.
On the boys side, Bernards again showed up with one swimmer, but that did not keep Bernards from getting on the scoreboard, as John Crerand placed 10th in the 100 back. The Bernards boy(s) finished in 9th place overall.
